Name

Kiera Wrice

Date of Birth

March 5, 1981

Where are you from?

I was born and raised on the south side of Chicago.

Where do you live now?

Calumet City

Why are you happy right now?

Basically, I’m living! I got a chance to see another day.  My kids make me happy.  I’m just happy.  I’m just a happy person overall!

What do you love to do?

I love doing interior decorating.  I love arts and crafts, and I also love working with children.

What is bothering you now?

Honestly right now it bothers me that we can’t get the kids on track.  We can’t just go outside and be comfortable. We have to worry about gang shootings, you know, we can’t just go out and be ourselves and enjoy our life in the proper way instead of always living in defense mode.

What are you doing for yourself this week?

I’m taking a trip to Puerto Rico.

What would you like to see change?

I would pretty much like to see everyone come together on one accord, on a positive note with no negativity. I would like to see kids be able to interact and be themselves.  I would like to see more mothers coming forward and doing the mommy thing instead of everything else.   I would like to see these kids get back into school so they can get back on the right track.  The crime rate goes down, at least to where we can live comfortably.  I just wish we all could love each other no matter if you’re Black, White, Asian, Hispanic, or whatever.  Just live our lives, because you only get one life.

Inspiration

What is your favorite quote?

“What goes around comes around”.

If you want positive,  surround yourself with positive people.  But if you associate yourself with negativity, you’ll get negativity as a result.

What’s your favorite book?

The Bible

What is your alias?

Keisha

What is the theme song for your life?

God’s Grace

What is your happy place?

In my room.

What is your purpose now?

To do better, act better.  Try to be positive, especially for my girls, because if I allow certain stuff to happen to me I don’t want them to think it’s okay to allow it to happen to them.

What is your story?

I feel like I want to begin with my ending, because we all went through something in life to get where we are.  If we hold on to the past then we’ll never get far in life.  I had the best of both worlds. It started off with my mother on drugs. My dad was a truck driver and he had to take off work and come get custody of me and my siblings. I would say lived comfortably. I wouldn’t say that I lived with a silver spoon, because I had to do chores, but I did live comfortably.  I’m the oldest and the only girl and I have two younger brothers.

What is your hope for the future?

Just positivity! I wish that they would open up more community centers to help people. Not just for children but for adults too. Also I wish they would open up more programs to make things more affordable because like it’s really hard for a lot of people out here right now.

What are your parting words?

Just be yourself!
